Background

The 30th Civil Engineer Squadron provides technically sound combat engineers to build, sustain, and protect Vandenberg Space Force Base through engineering and emergency response services. It’s organized into six flights consisting of 532 personnel that directly support $5B in infrastructure to include 2,209 facilities and the 22 Space Launch Complexes & Missile Launch Facilities.

-- The Fire & Emergency Services Flight provides structural, hazardous material, aircraft crash, fire prevention, fire protection and emergency medical response services for all facilities and personnel.

-- The Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) Flight provides emergency response capabilities for the mitigation of explosive hazards associated with missile launch and test program anomalies, research program generated explosive materials, force protection threats, military munitions, and unexploded ordnance (UXO).

-- The Readiness & Emergency Management Flight provides peacetime emergency management training and wartime contingency training to active duty personnel and ensures the deployment readiness for the squadron's Civil Engineer Prime Base Engineer Emergency Force team.

-- The Installation Management flight protects the environment, provides quality housing, accounts for Space Launch Delta real estate, and provides unit cost accounting and IT services.

-- The Operations flight is the force behind maintenance of the utilities, real property and environment that Vandenberg SFB people live and work in every day and consists of five elements to include operations engineering, mission engineering facility systems, infrastructure systems and heavy repair.

-- The Engineering Flight is a cradle-to-grave project development and execution organization combining the duties of comprehensive planning, programming, Air Force/US Space Force Comprehensive Asset Management Plan integration, and executor for base level facility/infrastructure requirements.

All of the effort put in by the 30th CES has continually been recognized for excellence throughout the years and has earned them 19 Air Force Outstanding Unit Awards from 1968-2010.
