The Space Launch Delta 30 will welcome a new Commander in a Change of Command ceremony scheduled for Friday, June 11, 10:00 a.m. at the base parade grounds.

Col. Robert A. Long will relieve Col. Anthony J. Mastalir as Commander of Space Launch Delta 30, Vandenberg Space Force Base during the ceremony.

Lt. Gen. Stephen N. Whiting, Commander, Space Operations Command, Peterson Air Force Base, Colorado, is scheduled to preside over the ceremony.

Col. Long is currently the Deputy Commander of Space Delta 5, here, at Vandenberg Space Force Base. Col. Mastalir will deploy to Al Udeid Air Base in Qatar, where he will begin the process of standing up U.S. Space Forces Central Command.

The change of command ceremony is a time-honored military tradition that marks the transfer of total responsibility and authority from one individual to another. It is conducted to demonstrate a continuation of trust and authority within the chain of command.

In case of inclement weather, the ceremony will be held at the Pacific Coast Club on base.
