Vandenberg celebrates the creation of the U.S. Space Force
Vandenberg Air Force Base members wait for President Donald Trump to sign the National Defense Authorization Act Dec. 20, 2019, at Vandenberg AFB, Calif. The NDAA established a sixth branch of the armed forces – the United States Space Force. The U.S. Space Force is a military service that organizes, trains, and equips space forces in order to protect U.S. and allied interests in space and to provide space capabilities to the joint force. U.S. Space Force responsibilities will include developing military space professionals, acquiring military space systems, maturing the military doctrine for space power, and organizing space forces to present to our Combatant Commands.
