From space traffic monitoring to human space flight rescue, Vandenberg units provide integral support to NASA missions

Multinational and joint military space operators stand for a photo in the Combined Space Operations Center at Vandenberg AFB, Calif., after the safe return of NASA’s Commercial Crew Program Demonstration Mission 2, which took place Aug. 1-2, 2020. For both this and the later Dragon Crew-1 ‘Resilience” Capsule mission that took place on Nov. 16, 2020, the team coordinated with a global network of space and military operations centers to support the SpaceX Dragon spacecraft with recovery trajectory tracking, collision avoidance screening and warnings, and rapidly deployable global personnel recovery capabilities.
