Vandenberg will host Cultural Heritage Day from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Aug. 20 at the Pacific Coast Club here.

The free event will include food, displays and entertainment from a variety of cultures, including Native American, Turkish and French.

In an effort to consolidate cultural heritage celebrations that take place throughout the year while celebrating the diversity of its servicemembers, the Air Force holds one Cultural Heritage Day annually, said event coordinator Senior Master Sgt. Marlene Hindman.

"The Chief of Staff of the Air Force (Gen. Norton Schwartz) recently said we must recognize our diversity," Sergeant Hindman said. "We are celebrating all the differences that make each of us special."

Along with the diverse menu provided by the Pacific Coast Club, booths will display such people and events as Martin Luther King Jr., women's history, Hispanic American heritage and Asian Pacific heritage. The Cultural Heritage Day committee will also present a slideshow highlighting heroes from around the world.
