National POW/MIA Recognition Day Published Sept. 18, 2014 By 020914 VANDENBERG AIR FORCE BASE, Calif. -- The 30th Space Wing will host a National POW/MIA Recognition Day ceremony Friday, Sept. 19 at 3:00 p.m. in front of the POW/MIA Memorial. The guest speaker is Chief Master Sgt. Patrick McMahon, 14th Air Force command chief. "Tributes like this remind all Americans of our country's responsibility and its ongoing efforts to stand behind those who serve our nation," said Col. Shane Clark, 30th Space Wing vice commander. "This ceremony not only honors POWs who were or may still be in captivity, but it also reinforces our nation's important commitment to account for the many thousands who have not yet returned." The ceremony concludes a 24-hour vigil and remembrance run and will include closing remarks from Col. Clark.
