Mission
Educate and inform our people. Generate informed public trust and support for the men and women of Vandenberg Space Force Base and the United States Space Force.
Background: Public Affairs serves as a strategic function that builds a bridge between Vandenberg and the external environment. We play a critical role in helping Vandenberg navigate the complex landscape of politics, legislation, and stakeholder relationships. Public Affairs, when effective, combines government relations, media communications, issue management, corporate and social responsibility, information dissemination, and strategic communications advice.
The difference between marketing and public affairs is that marketing is focused on selling products or services, while PA focuses on creating the image of the organization.
Both competencies work to support branding. A brand is an emotional connection that drives differentiation and decision-making—not only with personnel, but also mission partners. A brand influences policymakers and regulators who enact policies that add fuel or friction in support or to the detriment of our mission.
Command Information
The Command Information section links Airmen, Guardians and their leaders by providing timely, accurate, relevant information to act as a force multiplier and enhance morale and readiness.

Media Operations
The Media Operations section links Airmen, Guardians and their leaders, links to the community and informs global audiences about air and space capabilities by telling the Air and Space Forces stories in a variety of public forums.
The Space Launch Delta 30 Public Affairs office is the only authorized representative of Vandenberg Space Force Base. Members of the media wishing to interview Vandenberg people should call the chief of Media Operations at (805) 606-3595. Base personnel wishing to contact the media should coordinate such contact with the chief of Media Operations in advance.
Space Launch Delta 30 Public Affairs is available to accredited media Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at (805) 606-3595, and after hours through the Vandenberg Command Post at (805) 606-9961. Media members requesting accreditation or to receive Vandenberg news releases should call the chief of Media Operations at (805) 606-3595.
Community Engagement
The Community Engagement section ties Air and Space Force professionals to the communities where they live making them front-line ambassadors for the Air Force and Space Force. Through active programs, the Space Force demonstrates it is a community partner and a responsible steward of resources.
