The traditional Holiday Tree lighting was held in a slightly different spot this year. In years past the tree outside of building 11777 was used, however, base leadership decided that since the tree had seen better days, they would acquire an artificial tree that could be placed in a more conducive spot - outside the Pacific Coast Club. This year Col. Moss presided over the ceremony, and with the assistance of a few girl scouts and cub scouts, he lit the tree welcoming the Christmas season to Vandenberg. The event, which was organized by the Company Grade Officers Council, culminated with the arrival of Santa on a firetruck, because his reindeer were otherwise occupied.
