VANDENBERG AIR FORCE BASE, Calif. -- 30th Force Support Squadron, office of military personnel, hosted an enlisted assignment briefing at the Education Center, Oct. 30.
Many important aspects were covered regarding how an enlisted Airman can market themselves for assignments.
“We covered how to apply for a Base of Preference, how to use the Assignment Management System, we talked joint spouse information, how to correctly set your dream sheet, time on station requirements, and overseas vs. continental United States assignments,“ said Airman 1st Class Marina Bernal, 30th FSS outbound assignment technician.
Meetings like this are important for lower enlisted Airmen for many reasons.
“Understanding how to market yourself for an assignment is important because most people want a specific assignment,” said Staff Sgt. Roddricus Philpot, 30th FSS NCOIC of outbound assignments. “They want to know how to apply for an assignment, and the ins-and-outs of getting an assignment. So, we inform them on the Air Force Instructions that we use, and what requirements are needed to get an assignment.”
The 30th FSS MPF plans to offer meetings similar to this one, quarterly, if there is a demand. Their office is located in Bldg. 11777, Room C209.
