VANDENBERG AIR FORCE BASE, Calif. --
For nearly six weeks, members of Team Vandenberg will seek donations for the 2017 Combined Federal Campaign, here, Nov. 27 through Jan. 5.
Pledges made during the campaign will support eligible non-profit organizations that provide health and human service benefits throughout the world.
According to the official CFC website, https://cfcgiving.opm.gov, the CFC is the world's largest and most successful annual workplace charity campaign, with almost 200 CFC campaigns throughout the country and overseas raising millions of dollars each year.
“CFC provides us the opportunity to give to the community, promote philanthropy, and to just make our world better in all sorts of ways through 8,000 plus charities that are involved in the CFC,” said 2nd Lt. Rick Yuan, 1st Air and Space Test Squadron responsible engineer.
Donating to the charity of one’s choosing has become even more feasible – as participants can give in a variety of ways.
“It’s very easy to donate. Your just have to find your local CFC representative and they will have pledge forms and charity listings. Then you just find the charity that you want and put it on your pledge form. It’s then shipped directly to the CFC headquarters and the money will be taken out of your payroll directly. You could donate, let’s say, five dollars out of every pay check or you could make a one-time check. Another option, is to go onto the CFC website and you can make a donation through the system.”
While Vandenberg typically exceeds its yearly fundraising goal, coordinators expect this year to be no exception and have established a reasonably attainable goal of $125,000.
“Even if you are only able to give a dollar per paycheck, that is still 24 dollars to a charity,” said Yuan. “It doesn’t matter how much you donate, every little bit helps.”
