The Airman & Family Readiness Center will be hosting a Passport Fair event, here, April 5 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

This annual event is supported by agents from the Los Angeles Passport Agency to receive applications for first time passports or renewals, and also answer any questions about the process.

“The LA passport agency has been sending agents to VAFB since 2009 to hold this annual event,” said Duane Purser, 30th Force Support Squadron community readiness consultant. “It's a convenient way for people hoping to travel outside the U.S. to apply or renew a U.S. Passport.”

Applications will be accepted at the event, but customers will need to have the required documents and identification, as well as check or credit card payment, on hand to complete the process. Application forms and additional information about the application process are available at the U.S. Department of State website http://travel.state.gov.

“The fair will be first come, first served,” explains Purser. “It’s important to have all the correct documents when you sign in at arrival to avoid any delays.”

According to the U.S. Department of State there has been “increasingly strong demand for U.S. passports in recent years,” and it is recommended that travelers complete the application process ahead of time to avoid added stress.
