Exploring the base with Outdoor Rec

With the vast amount of outdoor activities, to include visiting the beach, hiking, fishing and hunting near Vandenberg Air Force Base, there are many useful resources members can take advantage of to enjoy their time here.

One of the services that Vandenberg AFB members can utilize when taking advantage of what the local area has to offer is the 30th Force Support Squadron Outdoor Recreation Center.

Within the Outdoor Recreation Center members can find many different items to buy or rent, such as golf, paintball and surfing gear. Members can also make Boathouse reservations or sign up for RV storage through the Outdoor Recreation Center.  All of the services offered by the Outdoor Recreation Center can be accessed by tech-school students, Airmen, families and retirees.

“The Outdoor Recreation Center building offers team activities like paintball, fishing, hiking available to squadrons,” said Major Nancy Clemens, 30th FSS commander. “We also have an indoor driving range available Monday through Friday 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. for anyone to utilize.”

Members looking to experience more of what the surrounding area has to offer, can visit the Outdoor Recreation Center Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to noon.

“It is so rewarding to educate base personnel, military and civilians on all the great aspects of what is offered at Vandenberg and the surrounding areas,” said Edwina Williams, 30th Force Support Squadron, community programs specialist. “Outdoor Recreation is a happy place to come and get some awesome information!”
