Gen. Rice visits Vandenberg Airmen

VANDENBERG AFB, California -- General Edward A. Rice Jr., Air Education Training Command commander, and Chief Master Sgt. Gerardo Tapia Jr., AETC command chief master sergeant, visited the 381st Training Group at Vandenberg Tuesday, July 9, 2013. Rice focused this visit primarily on talking to many of the men and women of the training group in small sessions to discuss what was on the minds of the Airmen. Additionally, Rice held a 381 TRG all-call focusing on future challenges of the AETC enterprise. "We don't bring people into the Air Force who aren't ready for challenges," Rice said. "We bring in the people who want to tackle those challenges and are ready to solve problems." The all-call briefing also included the presentation of two AETC technical training annual awards. Rice presented the 2012 AETC Officer Instructor of the Year to Capt. Lucas P. Lobo, 532d Training Squadron, and 2012 AETC Noncommissioned officer Instructor of the Year to Staff Sgt. Michael A. Garza from the 533rd Training Squadron.
