30th MDG earns outstanding in HSI
VANDENBERG AIR FORCE BASE, Calif. -- Members of the 30th Medical Group completed their Health Services Inspection here July 15 with an overall rating of outstanding.
Inspections of the medical treatment facilities are required to ensure full compliance. The Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care and Health Services Inspection team inspect the medical treatment center every three years.
The inspection took one week to perform and covered Expeditionary Medical Operations, In-Garrison Medical Operations and Leadership. Of these three major categories there were 105 elements and 1,657 criteria that were inspectable.
"Very rarely do we see 100 percent in any one area. More importantly, very rarely do we see anything in the 90s," said Col. Chris Torres, Health Services Inspection team chief. "The overall score for medical operations is outstanding."
The medical group has been preparing for this inspection for more than six months to ensure compliance with regulations.
"It solidified everything that we had known," said Col. Janice Wallace, 30th Medical Group commander. "It really proved to everybody else that we are an outstanding team at Vandenberg."
As a result of the inspection, the medical group will keep their accreditation with no interruption in service.
"This is a major accomplishment for the facility and we are very proud of Col. Janice Wallace and her team!" said Col. Lee E. Payne, Air Force Space Command command surgeon.
