VSC to host appreciation dinner at Cocheo Park

The Vandenberg Spouses' Club is slated to host a membership appreciation dinner at Cocheo Park here at 6:30 p.m. May 25.

The recipients of the annual VSC scholarships will be honored at the appreciation dinner. Five students and five spouses will be recognized.

"The VSC membership appreciation dinner will celebrate and honor the VSC members as well as reflect on the past year highlighting our mission which is to promote a sense of community among military spouses at and around Vandenberg," said Celi Colon, a VSC manager. "Our vision is to always stride to provide activities, information and support for all members, especially the spouses of our deployed troops."

The recipients of the 2011 scholarships are as follows:

Students:
- Keenan Andrews
- Ashley Dalton
- Vaidehi Buch
- Leilani Rey
- Maryssa Hadway

Spouses:
-Candee Homer
- Nina Edwards
- Jacquel Detweiler
- Silvia Schultz
- Staci Ewell

"The scholarship recipients are committed to academic excellence, community involvement, and personal growth through sports, music, or other extracurricular activities," Ms. Colon said. "Each recipient has shown an extraordinary desire to continue with their education."

The VSC is an all-volunteer, non-profit organization devoted to serving military families at and around Vandenberg Air Force Base.

The purpose of the VSC is to promote a sense of community among military spouses at and around Vandenberg.
