Effective Jan. 4, 2011, the Visitor Control Center located at the main gate on Vandenberg AFB will be changing its hours of operation. The VCC will be open Monday through Friday from 6 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The VCC will be closed on weekends, holidays, Wing down days and every second Tuesday of the month for mandatory readiness training.

During the month of December the VCC will be open Monday through Sunday from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. with the exception of Dec. 24 - 27, 2010. The VCC will also be closed from the December 31, 2010, through Jan. 3, 2011.

Procedures for personnel requiring base entry during VCC closure: Personnel requesting entry will park their vehicle in the VCC parking lot and walk to the main gate. The vouching authority will arrive at the main gate along with the individual requesting entry. While waiting on the sidewalk across from the gate, security personnel will approach, identify and vet personnel for base entry. Personnel will receive either a Defense Biometric Identification System (DBIDS) pass or an AF Form 75.

Personnel with vouching authority or authorized escorts include: Department of Defense personnel with a Common Access Card (CAC), Guard, Reserve and retired DD Form 2 series cards, Dependent ID card, and DBIDS card that states vouching authority on the card.

In order to expedite service and processing the following entry authority list (EAL) procedures have been put in place. Any office completing an EAL will also need to accomplish a placard for each member listed on the EAL submitted by your office. For the proper placard template please contact the visitor center. EALs submitted three duty days prior to event. If the event is more than 50 personnel, originator of EAL must contact the wing's public affairs office at 805-606-4000 for notification to base populist. Doing so will alert the base of possible delays at installation gates.

For any questions on the VCC closure procedures, call Staff. Sgt Joscelyn Harris at 606-7099 or Senior Airman Francisco Burch at 606-7662.
