Boogie boarder killed on Surf Beach
VANDENBERG AIR FORCE BASE, Calif. -- Vandenberg officials closed Surf, Wall and Minuteman Beaches following a fatal shark attack early Oct. 22.
One person has been confirmed dead following a shark attack while boogie boarding at Surf Beach.
A male in his early 20's was boogie boarding with a friend at Surf Beach, property of Vandenberg, at the time of the attack.
"Our first responders were on scene to assist in rescue efforts," said Col. Richard Boltz, 30th Space Wing commander. "Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family and friends."
Vandenberg beaches will remain closed for 72-hours at a minimum.
