Memorial service set for Sean Fleming

VANDENBERG AIR FORCE BASE, Calif. -- A memorial service for Sean Daniel Fleming is scheduled for 10 a.m. July 1 at Our Lady of Assumption Church, 3175 Telegraph Road, Ventura, Calif., 93003.

A reception is scheduled immediately following the memorial service on the Our Lady of Assumption Church grounds, followed by an apparatus procession and wreath ceremony at the Ventura Pier.

Fleming, 32, spent 12 years assigned to the Vandenberg AFB Fire Department as a rescue program manager. He was last seen kayaking off the Santa Barbara County coast June 19. After five days of searching, only his kayak and backpack were found.

"Losing Sean will forever impact the Vandenberg AFB Fire Department and the base as a whole," said Col Richard Boltz, 30th Space Wing commander." Our thoughts go out to his family during this difficult time."

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations to be made to Sean Fleming Memorial care of Vandenberg Professional Firefighters Local F-116, PO Box 5156, Vandenberg AFB, Calif., 93437.
