The Pentagon Channel presents Armed Forces Boxing Championship

WASHINGTON, D.C. -- The Pentagon Channel makes military broadcast history by launching a 10-week television series with blow-by-blow coverage from the 2010 Armed Forces Boxing Championship!

"We are proud to now offer TPC Sports programming to our viewers and servicemembers stationed around the world," said Pentagon Channel General Manager Brian Natwick. "Expanding our event coverage into the boxing arena is a new way for us to showcase our men and women in uniform. This series also allows us to reach a new audience that otherwise may not be watching news, briefings or hearings. Moving into sports proves we are dedicated to entertaining and informing every man and woman in uniform with the latest news, cooking, fitness and sports programming."

The series debuts Friday, July 2 at 8 p.m. ET, and will continue every Friday with repeat airings each weekend. Each half hour show includes ringside coverage, analysis, and individual boxer profiles.

The tournament was held at Naval Base Ventura County, California, and features boxers competing in ten weight classes, plus a female exhibition bout. Only the best service athletes are selected to represent the United States Armed Forces in the boxing event each year.
