Vandenberg releases storm water management plan
VANDENBERG AIR FORCE BASE, Calif. -- The Vandenberg Air Force Base Storm Water Management Plan is available for public comment through March 8.
The General Permit for the Discharge of Storm Water from Small Municipal Separate Storm Sewer Systems (Water Quality Order No. 2003-0005-DWQ) requires small municipalities and urbanized areas to develop and implement a SWMP designed to reduce the discharge of pollutants through their municipal separate storm sewer systems to the maximum extent practicable.
Vandenberg developed and submitted a SWMP to the Central Coast Regional Water Quality Control Board. The SWMP is posted for a 60-day public comment period at: http://www.swrcb.ca.gov/rwqcb3/water_issues/programs/stormwater/muni_phase2/non_traditional_ms4/vandenberg_afb/index.shtml
The Draft Table of Required Revisions is also posted. This table identifies changes and/or additions to the SWMP that Water Board staff require for recommending approval of the SWMP to the Water Board.
For more information concerning the Vandenberg SWMP, call Ms. Tara Wiskowski, a 30th Civil Engineer Squadron environmental protection specialist, at 605-0503. Comments can be sent to Ms. Wiskowski at tara.wiskowski@vandenberg.af.mil and Phil Hammer at phammer@waterboards.ca.gov.
