VANDENBERG AIR FORCE BASE, Calif. -- The Lompoc Gate will close Jan. 18 through June 8 for security upgrade construction.

Only inbound commercial vehicles requiring inspection (i.e. commercial trucks, recreational vehicles, boats, vehicles pulling trailers) and government vehicles will be allowed entry during that period. All other vehicles must use other gates.

Outbound commercial vehicles must use other gates to exit. Furthermore, hazardous material and large semi-trucks must exit via the Solvang Gate.

Users of Santa Maria, Utah and Solvang gates can expect possible delays getting on or off base during the construction.

Members of the local community should be aware of possible increased traffic congestion at Utah, Solvang and Santa Maria gates, particularly during their morning commutes.
