President issues executive order regarding Christmas Eve workday
VANDENBERG AIR FORCE BASE, Calif. -- President Obama has issued an executive order excusing Federal employees from duty for the last half of the scheduled workday on Christmas Eve with pay and without a charge to leave.
This order does not apply to employees who receive annual premium pay for standby duty or firefighters who are covered by special pay provisions. For pay and leave purposes, the last half of the scheduled workday Dec. 24 will be treated as a holiday for most Federal employees and should be coded as "LH" on timecards.
