The Pacific Coast Club here will host Ultimate Fighting Championship Fight Night 103 in the enlisted lounge Sept. 19.

Doors open at 5 p.m. and the preliminary fights begin at 6 p.m. Rich Franklin will face Vitor Belfort in the night's main event.

The PCC tried to set up a UFC Fight Night in the past, but after learning it would cost nearly $8,000, it wasn't possible. Then Tech. Sgt. Denver Galford, a 1st Air and Space Test Squadron launch manager, decided to give things a try.

"I'm constantly trying to come up with new events for the base, especially for those who live in the dorms," Sergeant Galford said. "I figured I might as well try to talk to event promotions and see if we could work out a deal."

After completing a bit of groundwork, Sergeant Galford found that the PCC was being charged such a large amount due to the size of the building. The cable company had originally quoted the event based on the entire square footage of the facility rather than just one room. After coordinating with the cable provider, Sergeant Galford worked out a deal based on the size of the enlisted lounge only - cutting the cost to just $900.

Because of the low quote, the PCC is able to offer low ticket prices of $12 for E-4 and below and $17 for E-5 and above. Club members will receive a $2 discount. The price of admission is competitive of that charged by similar establishments, said Sergeant Galford.

With the groundwork complete, the PCC hopes to make UFC Fight Night a recurring event. The possibility of hosting another UFC event will be based on the turn out from this week's event.

Tickets are available by presale only and in limited quantity - only 125 available. To purchase tickets or for more information contact the PCC at 734-4375.
