The 30th Space Wing Safety office will continue to spread this year's 101 Critical Days of Summer message "Play to Live, Live to Play" through the Safety Day event at Cocheo Park here July 1.

All active duty military, Department of Defense civilians, contractors and dependants are invited to stop by the free event, which takes place between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m.

A variety of on- and off-base agencies will have safety displays and real life hands-on training exhibits, as well as entertainment for children. For example, the 30th SW Safety Office will offer information on motorcycle safety and child restraint systems; the Vandenberg Fire Department will provide a fire truck bounce house and static display of a fire engine; the 30th Security Forces Squadron will provide hands-free cell phone devices; and the 30th Civil Engineer Squadron will provide information on the base off-road vehicle safety requirements, along with off-road vehicles displays.

"Safety Day 2009 invites you to come out and have fun and learn some great ways to keep your summer safe," said Mark Stortecky of the 30th SW Safety office. "Our goal is safety awareness so you can enjoy summer but keep safety a priority to eliminate injuries and deaths. We want to help you stay safe at work, while you play or when you're just relaxing at home."
