A 30th Medical Operations Squadron Airman was tried by a special court-martial here May 12.

Airman 1st Class Brian K. Cardenas received his first federal conviction, four months confinement, forfeitures of $933 per month for five months and reduction in grade to E-1.
By his own request, Airman Cardenas pled guilty before a military judge alone, but was sentenced by a panel of commissioned officers.

The charge and specifications alleged that between June 1 and Oct. 31, 2008, Airman Cardenas used, distributed and introduced marijuana on Vandenberg with other Airmen.

Capt. Sean Garner and Capt. Ryan Haslam represented the government. Capt. Charles Warren represented the accused. Lt. Col. Charles Wiedie was the military judge.
