The 30th Civil Engineer Squadron cultural resources team will travel to the Pentagon to accept the Department of Defense Secretary of Defense Cultural Resources Management - Installation award on behalf of Team Vandenberg on June 3.

Vandenberg received the award for the 30th CES cultural resources flight's management of the installation's many cultural, archeological and historical resources for the past three years. Those resources cover a wide range of history, including Native American rock art, Cold War memorabilia and an array of sites containing million-year-old animal fossils.

Each year since 1962, the secretary of defense has honored individuals, teams and installations for their outstanding achievements to conserve and sustain the natural and cultural resources entrusted to the Department of Defense. The under secretary of defense for acquisition, technology and logistics will officiate at the ceremony honoring the winners.
