Forty-one junior enlisted service members attended the Junior Enlisted Emerging Professionally Day Oct. 29 at the Education Center here.

"JEEP Day is an opportunity for Airmen of the rank of airman basic to technical sergeant to participate and be actively involved in professional development as Airmen," said Staff Sgt. Terrell Tilley, president of Vandenberg Enlisted Action Team and the NCO-in charge of the First Term Airman Center.

The program, hosted by the VEAT, fine-tunes Airmen and gives them the tools they need to become outstanding military professionals through the means of junior NCO instructors. Over the span of the day, the NCOs taught the Airmen vital leadership skills.

One of the topics covered at JEEP Day was the importance of the enlisted evaluation system. This was discussed to clarify and correct any confusion about how the system operates and the importance of having well-rounded Airmen in the Air Force, said Sergeant Tilley.

Effective communication, overcoming career obstacles, team dynamics, mentoring and professional development were also discussed.

The goal is to have the airmen leave this program motivated with the knowledge they need to be successful. It is all about informing and motivating Airmen to be their best.

"J.E.E.P. Day has been a great learning experience," said Airman 1st Class Lucas Brannon, an orbital analyst from the 614th Air and Space Operations Center. "Anyone who is new to the Air Force can benefit by participating in this program."

The program is designed to help Airmen better understand their role in the Air Force, and how every job is equally important to the overall mission of the military, Sergeant Tilley said.

"I especially thought the question and answer portion of the program was helpful," Airman Brannon said. "It provides two-way communication between junior and senior enlisted personnel, and allowed for Airmen to propose new ideas to those higher up in rank."

Any Airmen interested in the program can contact Sergeant Tilley at 606-5957 or any V.E.A.T. council members.
