Spouses Club hosts Hawaiian dinner for members
VANDENBERG AIR FORCE BASE, Calif. -- Do grass skirts and leis pique your interest? If so than the Vandenberg Spouses Club's monthly event might be for you.
The spouses club is hosting a Hawaiian dinner at the Pacific Coast Club at 6:30 p.m. Sept. 19. The dinner will be accompanied by a 45 minute show with authentic Hawaiian dancers, as well as several games throughout the event, including limbo, loudest Hawaiian shirt and the coveted coconut race. The winner of each will receive a prize to be determined, according Cassandra Picchi, the communications chair in the VSC.
Not only will there be great entertainment, but delicious food as well. The appetizer will consist of skewered chicken with peanut sauce and veggie spring rolls with sweet and sour sauce. After the appetizer, participants will be able to feast on pulled pork, baked fish, huli huli chicken, rice, salad, fruit and rolls.
The event is a good opportunity for people to join the spouses club.
"The event cost is $10," Mrs. Picchi said. "People who aren't members should come and sign up at the door to become a member, but be sure to RSVP by (Sunday). "
Everyone planning on attending the event should RSVP at www.Vandenbergspousesclub.org. Spouses interested in joining the club signing up before the Hawaiian dinner can do so at the Web site.
This event is a single example of the many things that the VSC does to help relieve the stress military spouses' encounter on a daily basis. The club's involvement and effort in serving men and women, who continually support Airmen every day, is a testament to the spirit of service at Vandenberg.
