AAFES to celebrate military retirees who ‘Still Serve’
DALLAS -- The Army & Air Force Exchange Service is extending special retirement benefits to former Soldiers and Airmen who shop their exchange during the annual "Still Serving" weekend Sept. 5-7.
Invitations to this event, included in a "Salute to Your Service" sales flyer, are already hitting the mailboxes of more than 3 million Army and Air Force retirees, active duty and National Guard and Reserve members worldwide. Inside, the exchanges' most distinguished shoppers will find exclusive savings on a wide variety of categories, including $50 off any HP notebook over $799, up to $50 off a set of new tires and $2 off a 16-piece family meal at Popeye's Chicken.
"Every time retirees choose to shop at the exchange, they not only save money and don't pay sales tax, but they also provide needed support for Morale, Welfare and Recreation programs, facilities and non-appropriated fund construction projects," said AAFES' chief marketing officer Mat Dromey. "Without their support, it would not have been possible for AAFES to return more than $272.7 million to Armed Forces MWR programs and services last year."
In addition to the savings at "brick and mortar" exchanges, authorized shoppers will also find details of the "Salute to Your Service" sweepstakes at www.aafes.com. A random drawing will be held to select the winners of prizes including an MP3 player, digital camera, digital picture frame and more.
Authorized exchange customers can learn more about activities planned for the weekend of Sept. 5 at Vandenberg by calling (805) 734-5521. Contact information for all AAFES BXs and PXs can be found online www.aafes.com by clicking on the "store locator" link.
