Team V senior NCOs and the Lompoc Chamber of Commerce are putting together an Airman's Appreciation Barbeque from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. July 11 in Cochea Park here.

The annual event, which is for enlisted E-1 through E-6 as well as family members of deployed Airmen of all ranks, features a tri-tip lunch, funnel cakes, music and a bounce house for children.

"The barbeque is just a way for senior NCOs and the chamber to get out there and serve the Airmen and say thank you," said Master Sgt. Gregory Lenox, first sergeant for the 614th Air Operations Center here, and coordinator of the event.

Different private organizations on base are volunteering their time to put together the event. The NCO Academy is cooking the tri-tip, the Top 3 is sponsoring the funnel cake and disc jockey, the Air Force Sergeant's Association is bringing the bounce house, and the Lompoc Chamber of Commerce is funding the food and most of the event.

"Airmen should get out of the office and let the senior NCOs and local community say thanks," Sergeant Lenox said. "Give us a chance to show our appreciation for the sacrifices they make every day."
