Vandenberg children have "Breakfast with Santa"
VANDENBERG AIR FORCE BASE, Calif. -- It was all smiles and holiday spirits Saturday at the Pacific Coast Club here when more than 1,500 children and their families showed up to have "Breakfast with Santa."
The entirely free event was sponsored by the 30th Services Division, Vandenberg Thrift Shop, USAA and the Vandenberg Spouses Club and was open to all Vandenberg families.
"This is a great event in which the families here at Vandenberg get to come out and have an enjoyable holiday experience without incurring any hit to the wallet," said Mick Szymanski, 30th Services director.
Participants were able to enjoy several events including bingo, arts and crafts, and door prizes. Children were also able to get their picture taken with Santa and let him know their Christmas wishes.
"I liked seeing Santa," said 4-year-old Rylee MacDonald. "He was funny."
All this also included a breakfast buffet with eggs, French toast, sausage, bacon and fruit.
A new event experience was the video holiday greetings from families of deployed members.
"This is something new for us," Mr. Szymanski said. "We will be videotaping families and posting the greeting on the (30th Services Division) www.30svs.com website. Our deployed members should be able to see the messages by Dec. 20."
"This is another event in which the families of Vandenberg have the opportunity to come together for an enjoyable time in celebration of the holiday season," said Col. Jack Weinstein, 30th Space Wing commander. "The 30th Services Division continues to take care of the Vandenberg community by putting together outstanding events for our families to enjoy year round."
