PT uniform deadline takes affect Sunday

VANDENBERG AIR FORCE BASE, Calif. -- All Air Force members will be required to own the new Air Force Physical Training Uniform and wear it during organized physical training beginning Sunday. 

"With the deadline suddenly approaching, Vandenberg Military Clothing Sales has received a surge of Airmen requesting the new uniform, which has been in stock here for about two years," said Teddie Wedgeworth, Vandenberg Military Clothing Sales 
supervisor. 

The recent increase in demand for the required PT gear has caused shortages on certain items. 

"The shorts are on back order until January," Ms. Wedgeworth said. 

Even with stock shortages, Military Clothing Sales here offers another option for Airmen in need. 

The Army Air Force Exchange Service Web site www.aafes.com, allows Airmen to purchase uniform items that might be out of stock at the base military clothing sales for the same price offered on base. 

"One thing Airmen should remember is to try on the items before they buy them," Ms. Wedgeworth said. "The sizes are unique so you may need a size or two, larger or smaller, then what you usually wear." 

Also, if you don't prefer ordering items online, the Vandenberg Military Clothing sales offers the option of ordering items for you. 

The difference between the new and old PT uniform is not only in fabric, but also in the regulations of wear. 

According to Air Force Instruction 36-2903, the new uniform may be worn in any combination so long as it is not mixed with civilian clothes.
