The U.S. Space Force successfully concluded its fifth annual Commander, Space Force forces Conference, Sept. 30. Hosted at General Jacob E. Smart Conference Center on Joint Base Andrews, the two-day event honed on the critical theme of “Developing Warfighter Lethality” by bringing together the service components responsible for integrating space capabilities within their respective combatant commands, or CCMDs.

These service components, also known as Component Field Commands, or C-FLDCOMs, act as crucial conduits within CCMDs by providing dedicated space assets and Guardians to support plans, operations, training and exercises. C-FLDCOMs directly support the chief of space operations’ focus on fielding combat ready forces and underscore the USSF’s dedication to fully integrating space power into joint force operations. The established COMSPACEFOR structure ensures a clear and lawful chain of command from the secretary of the Air Force through the CSO.

The COMSPACEFOR Conference featured a keynote address from the Secretary of the Air Force, Honorable Troy E. Meink, in which he emphasized the importance of continued innovation and collaboration in the space domain. Throughout the event, COMSPACEFORs also received detailed briefings from Headquarters, USSF staff covering existing and emerging space capabilities. These briefings addressed critical command and resourcing issues, and explored innovative approaches to further enhance warfighter lethality for the Combatant Command Commanders.

Throughout the conference, COMSPACEFORs exchanged valuable feedback and shared insights from the past year, including successes achieved and challenges encountered within their respective C-FLDCOMs. These discussions highlighted ongoing efforts to strengthen relationships and optimize command and control functions for CCDRs, ensuring seamless integration of space power into joint operations and improved responsiveness to evolving operational needs.

The annual COMSPACEFOR Conference continues to serve as a vital platform for the USSF by facilitating essential dialogue and collaboration key to ensuring the nation's enduring advantage in the space domain and guaranteeing the joint force's continued readiness to meet any global challenge.
