Tours at NASA facilities showcasing Vandenberg's ongoing support for NASA missions were held at Vandenberg Space Force Base, Calif., Feb. 23 and March 6, 2026. Vandenberg has supported NASA’s integration and launch of scientific payloads from its landscape since 1958.

Daye Hoffman, NASA Launch Service Program’s organizational director at Vandenberg, gave a tour to the Santa Maria Chamber of Commerce, inside NASA’s LSP Clean Room at Vandenberg Space Force Base, Calif., March 6, 2026. Hoffman explained that a clean room is a controlled environment. NASA's clean rooms are critical for assembling spacecraft and instruments – preventing contamination from dust, hair and oil that could cause malfunctions in delicate space operations technology. Vandenberg’s location provides efficient access to polar orbit, enabling NASA to conduct missions that study Earth’s oceans.

Vandenberg SFB hosts NASA as a contributor to supporting scientific exploration launches. Vandenberg supports these missions by providing launch and payload integration capabilities for NASA spacecraft.
