VANDENBERG SPACE FORCE BASE, Calif. -- Vandenberg Space Force Base is bringing its community speaker series “Mission Update” to Ojai on Monday, June 22, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Kent Hall Council Chambers, located on the Ojai City Hall Campus at 111 W. Santa Ana St., Ojai, Calif.
This event marks the fourth installment in a four-part “Mission Update” speaker series designed to engage directly with Central Coast communities, provide updates on Vandenberg’s mission and address questions regarding rocket launch activity and sonic booms. Previous events in the series were held in Lompoc, Santa Barbara and Carpinteria.
“Mission Update” will feature U.S. Space Force Col. James T. Horne III, commander of Space Launch Delta 30, who will provide updates on Vandenberg operations and discuss the installation’s role in national defense and assured access to space.
“This speaker series has been an important opportunity to connect directly with our local communities,” Horne said. “We appreciate the continued engagement and look forward to discussing Vandenberg’s mission, hearing community feedback.”
The event will also include information related to ongoing research and community concerns regarding sonic booms associated with launch activity from Vandenberg Space Force Base.
