VANDENBERG SPACE FORCE BASE, Calif. -- Media representatives are invited to attend the official activation ceremony of the 4th Space Launch Squadron (4th SLS) and the assumption of command by U.S. Space Force Lt. Col. Kyle Rowland. The ceremony will be presided over by Col. James T. Horne III, Space Launch Delta 30 commander.
The 4th SLS has a storied legacy at Vandenberg, originally activated in 1994 to launch Titan IV rockets. Over its history, the squadron has played a vital role in the nation's space lift capabilities, overseeing Delta IV and Atlas V missions before its deactivation in 2018. Now, the squadron officially opens a new chapter in its history as it stands up once again, this time overseeing Range Management and the Spaceport of the Future at Vandenberg Space Force Base.
