Grand opening of Spiritual Care Center

VANDENBERG AIR FORCE BASE, Calif. -- The Vandenberg Chapel marked the grand opening of its new Spiritual Care Center (SCC) with an Open House, June 27, 2014.

During the ceremony key members of the 30th Civil Engineering Squadron, who were instrumental in seeing the project to completion, received recognition from Lt. Col. Glenn Page, 30th SW chaplain and Col. Keith Balts, 30 SW commander.

The SCC is the newest addition to the chapel's outreach to the Vandenberg community. This outreach center belongs to the community and the people we serve. The rooms and accommodations showcased can reach an even broader purpose and audience. Through this outreach arm of the chapel we will be able to offer more outreach programs for Airman Care, Family Enrichment, and Spiritual Resiliency.

Top Air Force leadership has emphasized that spiritual care and religious freedom for our Airmen, Joint Warriors and their families remains a key priority. As such, Vandenberg Chapel received $18,800 in spiritual resiliency funds from AF/HC. Even with budget constraints, the commitment to the spiritual care for Airmen and families remains strong, as evident in the specific allocation of resources for this center. With the generous support from the 30th CES, we were able to use the funds to refurbish this facility to accommodate multiple spiritual care programs.
