VANDENBERG AIR FORCE BASE, Calif. -- In 2013, Spacebook was launched here on Vandenberg Air Force Base, and since then there has been over 135 suggestions on ways to improve daily operations for Team V.

"Spacebook is a tool for launching the next generation of process improvements on Vandenberg AFB," said Junell Tillman, 30th Space Wing Spacebook facilitator. "We encourage everyone to use the Spacebook icon located on their desktops. They can put in suggestions to save time, resources, or money - ultimately increasing mission efficiency."

This program gives Team V members the opportunity to present ideas, or comment and vote on ideas submitted by others. It also provides an easy to use platform to have their voice heard which may lead to more efficient ways to operate.

After an idea is submitted, leadership reviews it and then directs them to the appropriate agencies for response or a resolution. All submissions are seen by people who are eager to make a difference and bring forward a brighter future for Vandenberg.

"We want to see more ideas," said Tillman. "We know people get busy with their jobs and may not realize how any idea, big or small, could improve how we perform our mission."

Some of the base improvements brought about by Spacebook suggestions include - wing run warm-up changes, a new turf on the football field, cross walks to improve safety, and the Airman Shadow Program.

Spacebook may seem similar to the Commanders Action Line however, it serves a different purpose.

"The Commanders Action Line is an alternative means to communicating your suggestions, recommendations or concerns directly to the Wing Commander," said Robin Ghormley, 30th SW Chief of Public Affairs. "It can be used to express constructive points of view on the policies and procedures of the base, as well as discuss safety and security issues, while Spacebook is a tool for identifying process improvements and efficiencies at Vandenberg which empowers members at the base level to implement changes that could make a difference in their own day-to-day operations."

Spacebook is a way to present solutions that may impact quality of life and the mission here at Vandenberg AFB.

"We simply can't afford to keep doing things that no longer make sense or to do things inefficiently," said Col. Shane Clark, 30th SW vice commander. "Everybody should spend time thinking about what we do, why we do it and how we do it. Team V members can then use Spacebook to get their ideas for process improvement quickly in front of wing leadership for evaluation and possible implementation."
