VANDENBERG AIR FORCE BASE, Calif. -- Capt. Dawn Maskell, the Joint Functional Component Command for Space chief of staff, and Petty Officer 2nd Class Glennaldrin Mupas, a 614th Air Operations Center member, cut the birthday cake during the U.S. Navy's 237th Birthday celebration here Friday, Oct 12, 2012. Currently a modern force of 287 ships and more than 3,700 aircraft, our Navy was created in 1775 with the establishment of the Continental Navy to sail against British merchant ships.
