VANDENBERG AIR FORCE BASE, Calif. – Col. Richard Boltz, 30th Space Wing commander, and Salud Carbajal, Santa Barbara County first district supervisor, wave to pedestrians during the Veterans Day Parade on State Street in Santa Barbara Friday, Nov. 11, 2011. First proclaimed on Nov. 11, 1919, as Armistice Day to celebrate the signing of the Armistice that ended World War I, it was expanded in 1954 to include veterans of all wars and has been known as Veterans Day ever since.
