30 LRS trains for mission readiness

SSgt Daniel Marrufo, 30th Logistics Readiness Squadron Vehicle Operations Training, Validation and Operations Supervisor, critiques the 30 LRS convoy team during an after action report Dec. 18, 2014, Vandenberg Air Force Base, Calif. "I'm excited to conduct this type training because it's invaluable to our career field.” explains Marrufo. “Many of us have deployed to various locations to conduct combat convoy ops. I personally take this training very seriously, because I have lost two of my closest friends while doing convoys, A1C Eric Barnes and SrA Ashton Goodman. I have done convoys both as a brand new Airman in the Lead Vehicle of the convoy, and as a Staff Sergeant as an Assistant Convoy Commander. I really enjoyed the enthusiasm the newer Vehicle Operators showed during this training. Everyone involved did really well during the scenarios and I know they gained a lot of knowledge from this experience." SSgt Marrufo has been a Vehicle Operator for 8 years, deployed twice for 8 months each time; earning both an Army Commendation Medal, and a Meritorious Service Medal for his actions.
