WWII fighter pilots fulfill squadron’s promise
Maj. M. Eugene Johns and Col. Ralph Jenkins, WWII combat aviators and retired Air Force officers with the 510th Fighter Squadron, share a live-streamed greeting during a ceremony to toast their fallen Squadron members, Apr. 7, 2017, at Vandenberg Air Force Base, Calif. Personnel with the 510th FS made a pact that the last two surviving members of the unit who flew combat missions during WWII – Johns and Jenkins – would make a toast from two bottles of brandy which had been saved for the occasion.
