VAFB Hotshots at Work
A member of Vandenberg Hotshots closes in on a controlled fire Sept. 18, 2019 at Vandenberg Air Force Base, Calif. A team of 18 Hotshots worked on the controlled burn of grassland and coastal sage at Purisma Point Beach. The goal of this one-day burn was to increase the habitat for the Western Snowy Plover by re-contouring the sand dunes for more suitable nesting conditions while also reducing the risk of wildfire.
