Vandenberg Space Force Base Hosts Mission Update Speaker Series in Lompoc

Dr. Kent Gee, Brigham Young University physics professor and lead researcher for the Department of the Air Force ECOBOOM program studying rocket sonic booms, explains the science behind sonic booms during a Vandenberg Mission Update at the Dick DeWees Community and Senior Center in Lompoc, Calif., Feb. 20, 2026. Gee discussed ongoing research and noise monitoring efforts related to increased launch activity at Vandenberg Space Force Base and answered questions from community members.
