Vandenberg executes back-to-back space, ICBM launches as operations deputy marks final mission
U.S. Space Force Col. Dorian Hatcher, Space Launch Delta 30 deputy commander for operations and Launch Decision Authority, writes operational updates during an unarmed Minuteman III intercontinental ballistic missile test launch at Vandenberg Space Force Base, Calif., May 20, 2026. The launch occurred at 12:01 a.m. and marked Hatcher’s final launch at Vandenberg prior to his departure to serve as the U.S. Space Forces-Korea commander. Vandenberg’s spaceport and test range conducted two launches within four hours, reflecting an operational pace not seen since the Cold War era. (U.S. Space Force photo by Jennifer Green-Lanchoney)
