Vandenberg prepares Airmen for joint fight Published July 21, 2009 By 010709 VANDENBERG AIR FORCE BASE, Calif. -- Vandenberg will prepare more than 90 Airmen for deployment at a processing line here July 22 at 8 a.m. The Airmen, assigned to the 30th Security Forces Squadron, will deploy in support of current Overseas Contingency Operations. The processing line is one of the last steps in a series of preparations for large-scale deployments. It is designed to quickly and efficiently provide large groups of deploying Airmen with the resources, training and instructions they require as they transition from garrison duties to the deployed theater. The line is also a final check for deployers to ensure they are medically, mentally, physically and spiritually ready for their deployments. Vandenberg prides itself on being the most heavily deployed base in Air Force Space Command. More than 200 Airmen from Vandenberg are currently deployed performing space operations and support functions throughout the world. Media Advisory: Media interested should contact Senior Airman Bryan Boyette at 805-606-3595. A convoy will leave the main gate at 7:45 a.m.
