Delta II launch successful Published Dec. 14, 2006 By 031206 VANDENBERG AIR FORCE BASE, Calif. -- A Delta II rocket carrying a National Reconnaissance Office payload successfully launched from Space Launch Complex-2 on North Vandenberg at 1 p.m. today. The spacelift commander for this mission was Col. Jack Weinstein, 30th Space Wing commander. "Today's successful launch was accomplished from the outstanding teamwork from all organizations to include the 30th Space Wing, Space and Missile Systems Center, NRO, and recently named United Launch Alliance," said Col Weinstein. "Vandenberg ensures national security with each executed launch, continuously proving that no one does it better." The 30th Space Wing is the Air Force Space Command organization responsible for all Department of Defense space and missile launch activities on the West Coast of the United States.
