Security Forces Depart for Iraq

Twenty-seven Airmen from the 30th Security Forces Squadron are set to depart Vandenberg today for a 180-day deployment to Camp Bucca, Iraq. The deployment follows six weeks of detainee operations training at Fort Bliss, Texas, before the Airmen head to Iraq. 

While deployed, the security forces will aid in securing the prisons at Camp Bucca. Their duties will include safeguarding, detaining and maintaining order of prisoners there. 


MEDIA ADVISORY: The team is set to depart the Central Coast via Vandenberg's flightline at 12:30 p.m. today. Mobility processing begins at 10 a.m. Media planning to cover this event should call Tech. Sgt. Rebecca Danét at 606-3390. A media escort will depart the Main Gate Visitor's Center at 11 a.m.
