Security Forces Depart for Iraq Published Aug. 24, 2006 By 090606 VANDENBERG AIR FORCE BASE, Calif. -- Twenty-seven Airmen from the 30th Security Forces Squadron are set to depart Vandenberg today for a 180-day deployment to Camp Bucca, Iraq. The deployment follows six weeks of detainee operations training at Fort Bliss, Texas, before the Airmen head to Iraq. While deployed, the security forces will aid in securing the prisons at Camp Bucca. Their duties will include safeguarding, detaining and maintaining order of prisoners there. -30- MEDIA ADVISORY: The team is set to depart the Central Coast via Vandenberg's flightline at 12:30 p.m. today.
