    Seasonal restrictions will be in place for Surf Beach and Ocean Park beginning Wednesday, March 1, as part of the annual program to protect the Western Snowy Plover and its nesting habitat.

    Space Launch Delta 30 civil engineers will be performing repairs on Highway 1 from 1 a.m. to 6 a.m. Thursday morning.
  • Vandenberg implemented a seasonal, partial closure of Surf, Wall and Minuteman Beach March 1, 2019 and is scheduled to last the duration of the Snowy Plover nesting season at Vandenberg Air Force Base, Calif. Vandenberg is home to 43 miles of coast line, and it is everyone's job to do their part to keep the beaches open.

    VANDENBERG OPENS ALL BEACHES

    Vandenberg officially opened all sections of Surf, Wall and Minuteman beaches Sept. 27. Beach restrictions are enforced annually on all three beaches normally through Sept. 30 to protect the Western Snowy Plover, however all Plover chicks have fledged effective Sept. 16, so per the Biological Opinion and with concurrence of the Space Launch Delta 30 Commander, all beaches will be fully opened and boundary fences and signs removed.

    History within the Mural

    The city of Lompoc is gaining a new mural located at the intersection of West Ocean Blvd. and North I Street to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Landsat. “I didn’t expect to get this,” said Thompson. "I had never done something like this before. I’ve done huge murals and huge projects, but something like this, this is my first time for something this big.”
