  • Lt. Col. Lloyd Daniels’ 100th Birthday Bash

    Col. Robert Long, Space Launch Delta 30 commander, celebrates retired veteran Lt. Col. Lloyd Daniels’ 100th birthday in Orcutt, California, July 16, 2021. Daniels spent 22 years in service and witnessed many of the first missile launches while stationed at Vandenberg.

  • VAFB Space Cowboys remain mission ready

    The 2nd Space Launch Squadron is home to the Space Force’s only hands-on space lift mission in support of the Minotaur launch vehicle. The Airmen who support this vital mission have been dubbed ‘Space Cowboys.’ 

  • 2nd SLS reactivated following squadron merger

    As of Aug. 15, 2019, the 2nd Space Launch Squadron officially activated, following the inactivation of the 1st Air and Space Test Squadron and the 4th Space Launch Squadron at Vandenberg Air Force Base, Calif.
